RATTLESNAKE CREEK HOUSE
Inspired by the clean lines of modern Scandinavian architecture, and the desire for a home that evokes and complements the beauty of its unique setting, this family home is sited along rattlesnake creek across from a conservation area. Expansive triple pane European windows afford foreground views of the creek, the cottonwoods of the riparian area, and the slopes of mount Jumbo beyond while also keeping the house comfortable year round. The clients requested honest, raw materials throughout the home. An exterior pallet of weathering materials features western red cedar siding left untreated to weather to a silver grey and exterior steel elements left raw to patina. Inside rough sawn/reclaimed timbers from Heritage Timber and more raw steel structural elements, as well as concrete floors continue the theme. The envelope is built to Hone’s high standards for energy efficiency including our standard double stud walls, and <1.0ACH air tightness, as well as the high performance windows from Zola.
