21st CENTURY DUPLEX
The goal of this project was to build an energy-efficient duplex to maximize small city infill lot. Owner-occupies the two-bedroom side of the duplex (1,500 sq. feet plus a one-car garage) and may rent the attached studio apartment (690 sq. feet plus a one-car garage) as income property.
Features/products: European-style windows by Glo, Traditional Pine tar siding finish by Auson. Wood by Hunts Timbers, metal siding and roofing by Epic Steel, concrete floors, radiant heat, Lunos air exchanger and other building science products by 475 Building Supply. Features a double-stud superinsulated wall assembly.
